Talk about thinking outside the box! This is really cool, both literally and figuratively. I don't know if anything like it could be applied to New Zealand, but I just read something about farmers crying out for more big dam projects on South Island for drought protection and this kind of thing makes me think that maybe they just need to remember their number 8 wire roots.

The Ladakh plateau is at around 3000m high, it has a very short summer and much longer winter, and a reasonably dry climate,  

 

Most cropping in NZ is done under 1000m in altitude, under a warm climate with high average rainfall.

 

The guy has a cool idea, But having to rely on crowd funding is a weakness and indication that its certainly not self sufficient from a agricultural point of view...
