Your chances are basically Zero

"The export and import of all controlled chemicals and the export of strategic goods (firearms, military goods and technologies, and goods and technologies that can be used in the production, development or delivery of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons) is prohibited under the Customs and Excise Act 1996, unless a permit has been obtained from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade."

https://www.mfat.govt.nz/en/trade/trading-weapons-and-controlled-chemicals/#list

Flame throwers are a listed "strategic good"

What is the definition in NZ of a flame thrower? TBCs flame thrower looks more like a big gas torch with fancy dressing on it and a marketing name.

Unclickable link. What is the purpose of this device and why did the Boring Company create one?

Just go to the supermarket, and buy a can of Lynx deodorant and a cigarette lighter.

I assume that you have a wasp nest that you want to destroy?

If the full blurb is to be believed then I do believe the purpose is to be able to sell hideously overpriced fire extinguishers to morons...

the import restriction might leave you with diy as your only option.

there's plenty of inspiration on YT

Or just import the thing in separate shipments as 'plumbing parts'......

Thanks guys,

I did realize that there wasn't really any likely hood of it,was kind of more about the absurdity of the whole thing, that basically came about from a space balls reference he made on twitter after starting to sell boaring company hats...

And a clickable link: https://www.boringcompany.com/flamethrower/

Its basically a big novelty cigarette lighter, and those are a minefield to import because of the amount of "safety" nonsense over them.

It is not a flame thrower, It is not throwing out burning liquid, its nothing more than a big bunsen burner with a handle.

Not a flame thrower, more like a blow torch.

You can buy blow torches from bunnings which are similar function but different form factor.

At what point does a blowtorch become a flame thrower, please expand....
