The supermoon has already risen over Hawke's Bay. It isn't supposed to peak until after midnight, but it is already pretty spectacular, even through the clouds.

Also overcast here, but the moon is bright and punching right through it.

It matches the eclipse timing (0225 there abouts)

Close proximity so yeah, will look good all night. But main event is early am.

Ditto here in PN. Not heavy cloud but heavy enough...

My two boys stayed up later tonight to see it, but both have had to go to bed disappointed.

Cloud cover is thicker now. Moon mostly obscured. I hope it improves later but I'm glad I got to see what I did. It is pretty spectacular even now.

Enjoyable from your own chair / bed.

It's almost as if the Moon's proximity has some effect on atmospherics..

I have been following the eclipse all evening here in Hawke's Bay. In spite of clouds the moon was mostly visible. But a blood moon I did not see. I saw the shadow moving across the moon as it turned darkish grey and then black. Finally, at about 01:50 it disappeared completely! It just got darker and darker until it was no longer visible at all. At this moment there is nothing to be seen of it, also not with binoculars. Just jet black. It is supposed to stay this way for about an hour but I am not going to wait for it to reappear. Time to go to bed.

During the evening it was too cloudy to see it however, my wife woke me around 3am and the sky was clear and we had a great view from our bedroom deck. Well worth it, got to love nature.

Yeah, it was quite bad in Auckland. Saw glimpses around midnight but only got worse later, tried around 3:00 and 5:00 but the clouds were too thick and there was no sign of the moon :(.

Got up at 3am but couldn't see the moon at all,  as the cloud was too thick (Wellington).

I guess I'll have to wait for the next one.

You should have driven out to the Hutt Valley the sky was clear at 3 to 3.30 am, it was also warm outside.
