Anyone noticed recently (last week or two) the Stuff website consuming a lot of resources on local PC's and in shared enterprise Internet Explorer environments?

 

Even sitting on the home page for Stuff and doing nothing the CPU spikes all over the place, close Stuff and the CPU drops massively.

 

Edit: Added our browser of choice.

One of the guys in the office does the Stuff quizzes every day and often complains about how slow they are to load. I haven't noticed a huge issue myself, but I'm one of those now-rare Firefox users so perhaps Chrome is more vulnerable.

Same Stuff page and only single tab opened. IE hovers around 5-7% CPU resources usage.

 

That's with Ad blocker disabled.  FWIW Edge appears to hog even more CPU than IE, and hogs almost as much as memory as Chrome.

No issues on Firefox 58 on Linux Fedora 27 kernel 4.14.14.

 

Chrome Version 64.0.3282.119 well that's a different story. Definite higher CPU usage with only stuff open doing nothing which drops when closed.
