Hi all,

Had a door-to-door salesperson around over the weekend, long story short - got the rates they were offering for both electricity and gas and it came down to about $12 less than what we are paying with Mercury per month = $244/year

Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience dealing with these guys and anything I should be aware of?

We've been with Mercury for yonkers and just finished a 2 year contract with them back in October but they don't have any special rates to offer hence looking elsewhere, although the Mrs is not keen on switching...

TIA~~

This was Crockers Electricity but were purchased by Pulse Energy about a year ago.  They are a legitimate company, but maybe a little smaller than most.  I think they may be direct debit only, but perhaps that changed.

i have been with pulse for 18 months in Rotorua and they have been really good. every time i do a check on prices they are always the cheapest and you can pay any way you want and they break your bill down and show everything that you pay for the month , itemized. i was with Meridian and saved $70 a month switching. Used 780 Kw last month and paid just over $200.

Main thing with them, is you have to give them a months notice if you are going to switch to another company. Otherwise they will bill you a $150 break fee.

They seem to be popular down here in Dunedin. Sponsor the Highlander's. I signed up with them and have had no complaints. Gave me money to switch and I'm not locked in to a term. Seem to be cheapest I can find in Dunedin if you don't go there flick route.

Charge you a dollar a day if you are late paying so don't pay late 😋

Thank you all.

All responses appear to be positive so far, which is great.

Now to convince the Mrs to switch....

This is actually alot fairer than practically every other power company. Where paying just 1 day late makes your entire bill increase by 10-20%, yet no further penalty if it then takes you 2 weeks plus to clear the arrears.
