I worry about the world if this is really a thing. (it's from Stuff so who knows)

But long story short a young child (male I assume) was in the male change rooms and he (or his parent at least) was upset at him seeing a naked man.

This may just be a cultural thing but from the article sounds like it is a general trend these days.

oh for gods sake.

"could have a psychology effect on a child"... yes, for thousands of years we have all been screwed up seeing old man balls... kids dont think about this stuff, they dont care, they just want to swim or get an ice cream afterwards. im sure i saw naked old men when I was a kid getting changed in swimming pools, but i cant remember any as i didnt care.

i understand how some cultures may not be comfortable, but you can force your culture on to another because of that. there should be a sign "by entering these pools you accept you may see old man balls at some point"

I saw this interview being filmed as I was on the way to the Striders 7k run on Tuesday. Must've edited the part where I walked past in the background all clad in my tight lycra . Would've taught them right for filming on a footpath hahaha.

The lido has family changing rooms. Perhaps the interviewee is suggesting that more people use them? It hard to understand what his point is from the article.

I'd put a bet that this is a cultural thing. Or even more on someone having a misguided notion of life.

Was there anyone taking their clothes off and exhibiting themselves, parading around? Or just someone taking care of drying off a good swim, putting clothes and going their merry way for the day?

Sheesh. Five million people in Finland must be traumatised with the barbaric Finnish sauna costume.

Did see a spectacularly wrinkly 'person of age' is some changing rooms once and that was pretty traumatic - think I was in my mid 40's at the time.

Can I say that, hope I'm not to politically incorrect, I sincerely apologise if I've offended anyone...

So you can change in a changing room at a pool as long as you don't get naked *rolls eyes*

What the hell do people expect when you go in to a shared changing room at a public pool. If someone has that much of an issue then use one of the provided private rooms or put a towel around you or your kid and drive home in your swim gear.

As the pool operator said, we get this from time to time, "if families with young children don't want their kids seeing "stuff" they can use the family change rooms."

IMHO making all the adults go into the "family rooms" is just plain daft...

Most places around the world have swimming pools and changing facilities. Cultural thing seems unlikely.

Stuff: "It does not leave a positive impact on a child's brain." Ahmed said the centre had private changing rooms that adults should use to avoid placing children in potentially vulnerable situations.

The guys an engineer not a psychologist. Personally I've never seen kids react like that in a changing room but I'm not sure why that would be the end of the world. It's likely the actual parent felt the same. Kids have reactions like that to all kinds of sights and sounds.

It's more "I don't like that so YOU have to change the way YOU do things because I have an issue with it so it YOUR problem"

I also think if the parents did not make it an issue then I am sure the kids would not either. Kids tend to react to things like this because an adult has reacted to it.

I can't believe that some people do find something as natural as a naked body offensive. I believe the naked person was just minding his business, not trying to offend anyone. What next? Worries about naked people at the locker room?
