Generally speaking, what are the chances of finding a job in Australia, from NZ? Are employers willing to go through the hassle of a Skype interview, and take a punt on you actually moving country?

If you have a good skills match I think it would be OK.

My company used to hire people from the Philippines. But, that was probably more because they were so cheap.

I've heard anecdotally that Aussies are much more reluctant to hire kiwis who are not currently in Australia during the recruitment process, and that when they will, they will only offer shorter contracts rather than permanent employment. YMMV.

Depends what you are doing and how much comparable talent is available locally.

My brother in law started a job in Melbourne in January, he didn't have any trouble with the job interview process, he applied and got the job in Nov and moved over there at the end of December. Seems quite happy so far. SQL database developer.
