Has anyone else been signed up to Orbitz without actually doing so?

The other day I got an email saying thanks for creating an Orbitz account, which went straight to the spam folder, as such I ignored it. Today I get a newsletter from them, so I tried the forgotten password link and reset my password. There is basically no account information, apart from a name of 'Alyssa Day'. My email address is fairly unique as I have my own domain, not likely a typo.

Has anyone else seen this with their own email accounts?

Maybe you signed up through a third party at a travel expo or competition or something similar? I have had similar situations in the past. Once I got contacted by a company I'd never heard of, turned out a company I used to deal with 10 years ago was sold to another company which went bust and the data was basically taked by employee of said bust company when he went to work for another company in a related industry.

Don't think it could be expo related, unless this happened 10+year's ago. The best bet is likely to be an absorbed company, but any I can think of in that sector appear to be still functioning.
I tried to set up a new account, using a fake email, and they don't do email address verification.
