Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help me out here... I'm a journalist looking for anyone whose verdant verve is fading
due to green fatigue, an affliction brought on by green noise - all the conflicting advice we hear about what's
good/bad for the environment - for a story for the Herald's Canvas magazine.
Perhaps you (or someone you know) are thinking of buying a hybrid car but discovered it was better to buy standard model second hand, or
or you've been told too many different things about the best way to recycle whatever it is you recycle... basically if you've ever tried
to do something 'green' only to discover it might not be, I'd like to hear from you.
Full names must be used of course.

AAArgh I am almost anti-green now, I can't stand the patronising BS and small-minded enforcement of the green movement. Not that I was a greenie to start with, but it's craaazy.

For instance, they've just instituted recycling and composting in our office, and removed the rubbish bins! Drives me nuts, I can only imagine what the cleaners think. Most stuff collected for "recycling", especially curbside recycling, gets chucked in the tip as it has no market and is uneconomic to process. We would be far greener to run a big incinerator near each city and get all the energy back from the plastic/paper/food waste. However it is somehow greener to fill in a valley somewhere, wait for it to rot and then collect a tiny amount of landfill gases- another load of BS.

Banning incandescent lamps just makes my blood boil, FFS let me make my own choices please. What bugs me most is that it's all symbolism to sucker in the ignorant- incandescent bulbs use a tiny percentage of a house's electricity compared to hot water and heating, but do you see greenies calling for less hot water or heating? Doubt it!

As well as that, the present power crisis is based on the green movement being total BANANAs, i.e. Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything. Project Aqua should have been built, but they stalled it in conjunction with some recreational fishermen! Whenever you mention energy it's all about how unreliable solar power and microwind (paid for by the taxpayer of course) are going to provide their personal needs, presumably everyone else can FOAD, and they will fight any more power stations tooth and nail!!!

Don't get me started on the travesty that is the ETS...

I've converted all the bulbs I can in my house to CFL, and the glare in the bedroom is weird with the colour cast they produce. Bring on (dimmable) LEDs is what I say!
