If you are planning to get Amazon Prime you should do it now. The US-version price will go up from $99 to $119 on 11 May.

Amazon Prime for existing members will go up 16 June.

The Amazon Prime links include the Geekzone affiliate code.

And they make this announcement on the day their share price soars because of record profits.

$20 extra per year on it's 100 million Prime memberships is pretty good for cashflow!

Not too impressed as I mainly use it for Prime Video.   Don't do much purchasing these days  so free shipping to YouShop is of no use to me.

I use it mainly for Prime Video but it's still US$10/month which is not too bad - complements our Netflix and Hulu subscriptions well.

We do use it occasionally - I used the free two day shipping to send a Chromebook to Michaelmurfy's hotel room when he was attending CES earlier this year and a couple of other things. Also used the free Kindle book a few times so all in all it's not too bad for us.

I thought Prime was always underpriced / cost Amazon a lot more than the money it brought in?

Netflix must be due another one soon as well, surely...

I have heard varying rumors and discussions in the industry that the end price for NF is going to be $24 USD a month.

Prime is a bit of a hike, but it's still the best value subscription I have and the first I renew each year and it would be the last I get rid of. $20 is a bit of a hike, but I'll still be a subscriber and think Amazon is awesome even after they charge my credit card. 2 Day shipping has been good for me over the years and prime video is good too.

I have heard part of the price increase is to provide even more than is being provided now, watch this space is what I was told.

Nearly a 20 percent price hike is quite a bit. I tried it for a year but didn’t use it enough.

Unfortunately most of prime video doesn’t seem to be available in NZ. I was about to cancel anyway -this just seals it for me
