My Aunty (bless her heart), forwards me LOTS of joke emails. And I mean LOTS. She has a distribution list set up, and usually does about ten at a time, sometimes four times a week, sometimes two lots a day.

This was new though - she had forwarded a joke, got a failure message, and forwarded the whole failure message to her whole distribution list.

I really hope she doesn't get a failure on that - we could get into a human-powered email loop here!

This reminds me of a company I used to work for where some people had setup an "Out of Office" reply, but 2 had set it up to reply to all, which managed to bring down the whole E-Mail system in about 3 minutes!

Have seen this happen a handfull of times in Exchange environments.  Email sent to a bunch (in one case 100+ )
of addresses, all of which in the TO: feild. One of the addresses bounced. Exchange resends email. To all people in the TO list.
And repeats. Until exchange times out the outgoing message.(About 24-36 hours from memory)

After a few hundred duplicate emails people get pretty pissed!

The email also does not appear in the Exchange queues, so the best way to fix is try and route the outgoing mail through mailmarshal etc, and filter it out.
