I've noticed the standard shipping option is not available for anything I order via Amazon to NZ.  Only Expedited and Priority is available.

Has been like this for 2 weeks.  Anyone else experience the same?

Yeah. It's been discussed a little bit here and here.

That's annoying. I had one order arrive last week that was delivered by two different companies under standard cheap shipping. It'd cost twice as much now. Hopefully it's a glitch they work out.

I wonder if they finally got sick of everybody hating i-parcel and couldn't find another sufficiently cheap courier to use so they just canned the whole standard shipping programme...

Though surely it's going to turn a significant amount of NZers off buying from Amazon for a lot of things? I know they subsidise shipping to start with, but Amazon has always been very growth-focused rather than profit-driven. Maybe it's foreshadowing their imminent entry into the NZ market and so they don't need competitive shipping in the short-term? ;)

I have noticed the price of shipping has gone up quite significantly.

Media doesn't appear to be excluded, I mainly purchase my 4K UHD Bluray's from Amazon and no standard shipping for media only either.

Yep, I went to order two packs of socks off Amazon earlier this week, and it was going to be $65 shipping. For 12 socks. Needless to say I didn't get them.

On that note, anyone know a good place to get socks here in NZ? I usually buy Hanes ankle socks (not low cut). I miss them, they are cushiony and warm without being too hot.

I really should look into youshop at some point, I also have family in the states that could have shipped it, but it's just socks. I only buy them like once a year or so when the old ones wear out, but I do love brand new socks.

Get some Thorlo socks, they've very comfortable and very hard wearing, they last years. Cotton isn't a good material for socks, it holds moisture and wears quickly.

Miracle Casters! Sold by 3rd party, but fulfilled by Amazon.

Had 3 shipping options: Standard International (no tracking), AmazonGlobal Expedited, and AmazonGlobal Priority.

I wonder if it simply depends what Amazon distribution centre the goods are shipped from?

@timmmay what is something in your cart that you don't get the economy option for?
