A Promo as we now live in Tokoroa and I have the Spark 1Gig fibre Max connection going...!!!

Housing prices here are like being in a time warp bubble compared to Auckland... we bought a 1/4 acre (YES!!)  3-4 bed, 3 car garage!!!   home for $305 thousand about 9 months ago...which would be twice this in Auckland at the very least...The internet fibre was already connected..

All the usual take away chains plus great local ones!! in the back of the CBD... you should have a drive around, lake and the parks...etc..

We do have vacant retail space here in    town plus commercial... there is also a 3-4 story office block in the CBD for sale...

So if you are a startup looking for 1Gig fibre and cheaper housing etc.. Tokoroa could be for you!! Natural gas is  reticulated around town as well We use the gas for water heater on demand..

We are central to Hamilton an easy 1hr drive, (like my old commute in Auckland decades ago)  Taupo about 45 mins and Rotorua about 55 mins, Putaruru is 15 mins and a cuppa and snack at Tirau is only a half hour away..

New Countdown and New World stores... Hospital in town as well with its own new section......

The people are great here and schools and sports facilities are great and also a new sports  hall etc..

Regards....Laurie sealed

Good for you, great.

But I fail to understand how anyone could compare city-like-village Auckland to a remote location in the middle of no where village with population of 10+ people.

I think a case is being made for being to able to work with high quality internet from a smaller more afforable place like tokoroa. Good if what you do to earn money can be done like this for the majority of your working month.

Sounds like a great place for us to retire. Unfortunately, we are tethered to Auckland due to jobs and family.

Makes me annoyed and definitely jealous that a town like Tokoroa already has "gigabit" fibre, but my suburb, less than 10km in a straight line from Auckland CBD on the isthmus, is stuck with ADSL (not even VDSL), until June next year. Often the reception in my house will drop to G at night too :(

Tbh though if my company thought about moving to Tokoroa then I guarantee 95% of the employees (200+) would not want to move..
