Although buried down in about paragraph 6 was

 

"Users are also advised to upgrade the device’s firmware and to select a new secure password. If any remote-management settings are in place, the F.B.I. suggests disabling them."

I'd take FBI malware over Russian malware. Money makes the world go round and we (NZ and western countries) buy planes, cars, motorcycles, medicine, clothes, technology etc from the USA. The Russians sell gas to Europe and very little else. The yanks have a lot of $$ reasons not to screw up other western economies. The Russians don't.
