I've just received an Android tablet case from Amazon UK that is damaged. I used Youshop as the product did not ship to NZ.

The only option I can see via the Amazon site is to return the case - which would be uneconomic to do, as would have to pay international courier, then pay Youshop a second time or the replacement taking the total postage costs to over $50 which is greater than case value.

Can any seasoned Amazon purchasers shed some light - do I have any other options, or am I stuffed?

That is the risk of doing a personal import on goods. Know anyone flying over to the UK that can take it? Only other option is to open a dispute with amazon and hope that they will write it off without you returning it to get a refund.
