Agree.  PC cow-dung.  After 10 weeks my kids are tired grumpy zombies.  Going longer is the height of stupidity, second only to the new open learning environments.  Honestly it's no wonder our academic achievements are in the toilet.

Sorry, the news, well Seven Sharp.... :-) said that there is an idea to replace school holidays for kids with annual leave, so they take it when suits. Avoid expensive school holiday travel costs etc, Let me look for a link

When I was a kid in Brazil we had two breaks: winter (July) and summer (December - January). Attendance was mandatory. No one died.

I read it that he doesn't, and I agree. They need that break after 10 weeks, they just don't function right. Imagine if they did the whole year straight cause the parents wanted to take a long summer vacation? Absolutely ridiculous idea, but I've come to expect nothing less from the poor excuse for journalism at 1900 in this country.

I agree with the OP...dumb idea.  I would have thought the rest of my post would have made that obvious.

Cool, that was me!  Im all for a period of education and breaks that maximise education. The topic was more about kids taking leave, so in essence its about parents and cost. Maybe travel companies can pull their head in when targeting school holidays. I know aircraft fuel is much more expensive then....

Hence its real news......

Truth be known its probably a "few days rating boost for 7 Sharp" as the Stuff comments type of response will kick in, giving Hillary and Jeremy a few days of "super TV"

I'm not sure about that - every second post on https://www.reddit.com/r/watchpeopledie/ seems to be sourced from Brazil.

I think kids get far too much holidays personally. When I was a kid there was May school holidays, August and Christmas/New Year's. That was it. Now they seem to have them every three months. It's a real hassle when both parents have to work.

Pretty sure our Christmas holidays were for a longer period.

Where today it's more breaks, but at least Christmas one shorter.

If kids in class have their leave at different times  does that mean the class previous week needs to be repeated for ones away,  lol

Plus some will be in school day before Christmas, and more relief teachers needed to cover teachers annual leave, where at moment only needed when teacher falls sick.
