Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for companies to get a computer shipped from Auckland Central to the South Island?

Thanks

I used to send them by putting them in a PC case box, with lots of packaging around the PC (foam, bubblewrap etc), tape it all up, label it fragile and off they'd go. Only ever had one damaged and one lost out of hundreds I did over 6 years.

Cost wise, not the cheapest to do anymore (think it was around $20 per box back then)., so shop around but ensure they cover insurance and full tracking with signature.

Unplug any PCIe cards such as graphics cards to prevent them being damaged.

if you have a large CPU cooler also remove that and post some new thermal compound to apply to it when it arrives.

Make sure you make a fresh backup (and test restore some files) of the important stuff before you post it and don't post the backup drive with it!

Sent a computer from Auckland to South Island, tracked, they did the packing, insured. Cost about about 250 via PackSend. Obviously cheaper if you pack yourself.

Another thing to be wary of is the limits on courier insurance payouts.. If it's a higher end system, you may want to break it down and remove some parts and send multiple separate packages.. from memory the maximum claimable value from couriers is $1500.
