I just received the following email from amazon.com

"We are writing about your order #xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx. Customs regulations for your country restrict the import of certain items. We regret to inform you that one or more items in your shipment xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx cannot be imported into your country and are being returned to Amazon. Morning Glory Mach Roller Ball Pen Tank System - 0.4 Mm- (Pack of 12) (Mixed)"

I cannot work out what has caused that one but I note that the original flagging came from iParcel and not amazon.

You shop will happily ship pens of course.

I've had issues with some orders of pens also. Madness. Amazon and iParcel have never sent an explanation before though. Using more expensive shipping options for those same pens has never been a problem though.

i would think it's the ink thats the problem and the risk of them breaking and leaking ink on every other valuable package. i presume the package isnt leak proof.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I think Tanks are banned from being imported to NZ. Buy cars instead.

But those exact same pens and refills ship fine if you select the higher priced shipping options. Maybe iParcel are more prone to throw packages around, causing damage? iParcel Rugby?

Related?

Only thing I can logically think of is some kind of exclusive distributorship on those products...

Yeah. I'd point at Distribution deals too, and potentially 'pens' when they are laser pointers being masked won't have helped.

Good luck finding a drop shipper to NZ for ice skates. Nike (who own most the brands) prevents it in the name of copyright and distribution agreements.

I think that I found the answer.

Marker pens with alcohol based solvents are restricted as both a hazardous cargo for air freight and as a prohibited item for certain countries.

iParcel seem to find it easier to just block all shipments of any type of pen than to distinguish between types of pen.
