Hi.

I am away for a week coming up, and I like to read when I am on Holiday.

The new Lee Child book is going to be a month later than that, so I can't take that.

I am after a real page turner. I like thrillers, but ones that aren't super deep with details so they are chore to read.

Authors I have been enjoying are Robert Crais - Elvis Cole, Lee Child, Grisham (I enjoy a decent legal thriller). I have previously enjoyed the super natural stuff that was early Koontz, but most of his more recent stuff isn't as interesting.

I also like post-apocalyptic stuff, so long as it's not too crazy and out there.

I particularly enjoyed the first two hunger games books....

Have a look at the Scott Mariani books - I enjoy them for not too cerebral 'Jack Reacher' style thrillers. They are based on a historical, usually religious, event or item, but set in the modern day. Ben Hope is his protagonist.

I'm churning through Clive Cussler's novels at the moment. I don't find their stories as gripping, but they are quite similar.

Another one is Vince Flynn.

I used to love the older Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt books, and the older Wilbur Smith books based in Africa, I think it was the courtenays. I read some of his newer stuff and just couldn't get invested the same way.

I'll take a look at the Vince Flynn and Scott Mirani books.

My picks atm are :

Red Rising (Pierce Brown) - Hunger games meets Warhammer basically - read the trilogy multiple times :)

Alex Cross series (James Patterson - Good crime/thriller reads

Adrians Undead Diary (Chris Phillbrook) - good Zombie read, done in the style of a diary - story does start to get a bit odd and the ending was just "WTF" but otherwise, I really enjoyed it.

Ive read probably all the Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt series, a good read if you like history and Indiana Jones style adventures :)

Other stuff I've read recently and enjoyed that (sort of) fits your requirements:

- Hugh Howey Wool Trilogy and Sand (stand alone) - I actually preferred Sand to Wool.

- Brandon Sanderson Many Lives of Stephen Leeds

- Dan Simmons Hyperion novels

Stuff that is perhaps less particular on point, but I enjoyed very much (more candy floss escapism)

- Drew Hayes Super Powereds series

- Scott Meyer Off to be the Wizard / Magic 2.0 series

might want to have a look at The Ninja series from Eric Von Lustbader, he who picked up the Bourne series after Ludlum.

You could try the Lewis Trilogy by Peter May, set in the Hebrides.

if you liked the cole/pike books , then check out the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben , almost a carbon copy of each other,. also what i think are the best detective series are the Dennis Lehane (Kenzie and Gennaro series).

Common sense is not as common as you think.
