Went there yesterday for a look & it's pretty amazing.  Had a quick play on the 1 million dollars touch screen. There is a special tech. area and part of that at the moment is a display of retro Mac gear.  I spotted one of the original Imacs and a LCII .  Instead of escalators they have built stairs with three lifts for those who can't make it up the four floors.  The brand new cafe was doing a roaring trade at around 10.30 am & the loos look good & no sign of tagging so far!

Looks great, saw a snippet on the news the other day.

My personal view is that investment in libraries is rates money well spent.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Happened to be visiting Christchurch on the weekend, so popped in for a look.  Very impressive, nice and shiny!

(According to Wiki:  The LC II was Apple's highest-selling Macintosh product in 1992.)

It was a pretty cool little computer and a huge step up from say, the Apple IIe

I know libraries are rebranding themselves as digital hubs but I struggle to see the relevance. $92 million, $8 million a year to run.

I remember seeing pictures of CHCH University library after the quakes, destroyed, chaos of shelves everywhere and you can’t help thinking...a few hard drives.

Although over $5 million of that are wages for the 100 odd staff....

If you think libraries are bad, have a look at swimming pools....

And a visit to the Pools can get VERY expensive if you put your nice new S9 or Iphone X / wallet under a towel in one of the free lockers...
