Got sent these photos from a friends sister who lives about an hour north of Sydney from a storm that went past them yesterday – they had hail stones the size of golf balls
Photos are amazing...!

Holy crap, that's like something out of a movie. Awesome pictures. I did see a short clip of some of the hail yesterday, crazy stuff.

That's absolutely incredible! A Facebook friend of my wife posted photos of smashed windows and dents in her car and also some of the rather bizarrely shaped (and massive) hail stones)...
I would not have liked to be there when they came down...

We had a storm like that in Chch many years ago, many cars were dented. I could hear the roar from the trees in the park over the road. That was NOTHING like this. Insane
Amazing photos, Sydney has some violent storms.
A few years ago I was flying from CHC to Sydney via Melbourne. There were violent thunderstorms all the way down the eastern coast of Australia & my Jetstar flight had to circle well east of Melbourne for around 20 minutes. Then once the plane landed there was a 10 hour delay in the flight from Melbourne to Sydney. (Jetstar gave me a meal voucher which was very good) Anyway, once I did get to Sydney I decided to use the airport train to get to Central. Unfortunately, there were no signs or information that the service would terminate at Green Square due to signalling equipment being knocked out by the electrical storm. I decided to walk from Green Square as my hotel was located south of the Central railway station. Once I made it to the hotel (in pouring rain!) I found that the hotel had no power & the power cut lasted nearly 24 hours and affected a big area. After that everything went very smoothly!
Yeh I saw a video on facebook somewhere of those falling. Looked pretty dangerous.
My cousin fixes cars in Australia, that get dented by those giant hail stones. Will be seeing him this weekend, suspect business is gonna go gangbusters for a wee while.
