Any way to watch/stream/download this programme? (No freeview/SKY etc). (piracy bad etc, a hint is a good as a link)
Hopefully it will be put online for the wider world of Slow TV fans.

If you're interested in similar stuff, the Slow TV subreddit has lots, and also the keyword "Führerstandsmitfahrt" on Youtube has many similar train videos.

This is the OG slow tv train film, the Bergensbanen. Glorious scenery, 8 hours, long. It was released under a CC licence too. I've made my own cut with the bulk of the time in tunnels removed. Great for having on in the background, particularly on board game night when you have to wait for your turn.

Skip to about 2.5 hours to see areas when scenes on Hoth were filmed for The Empire Strikes Back.

Prime is broadcast in SD, so this broadcast wasn't even remotely pleasing to look at most of the time. If you do find a copy, I'm sure you'll be disappointed.

Yuck! I may have to hold out hope that it’s rebroadcast in better quality.

Well TIL that skygo has a website, and is not just an app.
The program (short version at least) is there, but currently unavailable. Not sure of the quality yet.

(I needed to sign in, but inactive sky account deets seem to work for this)

Apparently this is the case. It's also encrypted, so unless someone has a workaround I'm not aware of, someone would need to capture this via HDMI to supply a lossy-reencoded HD version. I have hardware that can do raw HDMI captures, but I hate to think how big the resulting file would be.

It is HD on Sky Satellite only. SD on Freeview (Terrestrial and Satellite). The short answer for OP is, subscribe to Sky. The 3 hour version is available on demand (SKy OD and I presume Sky Go).

It is on HD for Sky TV customers (no HD ticket required), but SD for Freeview viewers (both satellite and terrestrial Freeview).

SBS Australia will be showing the event (short version next Sunday on SBS, full version Saturday week on Viceland), and you'll be able to watch it on SBS on Demand afterwards (with a VPN). OK, sorted.

1. SKY are terrible people. The error message "Media Temporarily Unavailable" actually means this video will not work in your chosen browser. Try a different one, and it works fine. (Mac: Safari bad, Chrome good)

2. Both the 3 hour and 12 hour episodes are available on skygo.co.nz.

3. BUT as expected the quality is poor.

So will wait until its rebroadcast in Aus and then hope for a good HD torrent.

We watched it as far as Christchurch and taped the rest.

Quite interesting and no problem with quality on our 32" TV.

Only complaint was that the white wording that was used to give landmark info was rather hard to read at times.

Fair call re the quality. I was looking on my 60inch tv, I have edited my earlier post. I’m just so used to beautiful HD.

NZ On Air should really mandate some technical standards for shows it commissions and the way they have to be broadcast at home. It's really absurd that the only way to watch this in a decent quality is to cross your fingers and hope an illicit source is made available.

Given that no FTA channel offers HD to all the population (Freeview HD reach is only 86%), thiis really isn't practical. Additionally, the 11 shows with viewership of less than 10,000 first run viewers were on HD channels. "Of the 11 shows with the lowest first-run audiences broadcast in the year of July 31, 2018, 10 of them were shown on Māori Television in Three’s weekly Māori current affairs show." from Mediaweek.
