Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest profit from operations ever by any U.S. corporation, but the results were well short of Wall Street expectations and its shares slumped 3 percent.
Quite an amazing statement!
Hard to see them as not blatantly profiteering - it'll be interesting to see what sort of profits the other major companies post.
Edit: Same report lists Royal Dutch Shell as posting a US$11.6 billion profit after "a 33% jump in second-quarter earnings".
