Because I know so many of you liked 'Altered Carbon' season 1 on Netflix I though I would start a separate topic.

Netflix has just posted a cast trailer for "Altered Carbon" season 2 and considering that the premise of Altered Carbon is about people who can change into different bodies called "sleeves," it makes sense that some of the characters from season 1 will have new faces including the lead of the Kovacs character.  No release date as yet. I believe Netflix also have the rights to all the books in the series. I have always thought this show had a Blade Runner/Matrix feel to it. I thoroughly enjoyed the first series and gave it 8/10.

For those that have not watched the first season do so. The gist of season 1 being a prisoner returns to life in a new body and must solve a mind-bending murder to win his freedom. Set several hundred years in the future, it features humans swapping bodies called 'sleeving', 'cross sleeving' (gender swapping) and even 'double sleeving' (mind split across two bodies); sharp-tongued artificial intelligences, clones, androids, robots and virtual reality; mega rich baddies, gumshoe detectives and corrupt law enforcement; high-tech drugs, guns and body modification and graphic violence, the whole sci-fi enchilada wrapped around a good old fashion murder mystery.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I forgot to mention Netflix has also announced an Anime series based around Altered Carbon Season 1, again no release date.

Keen! I have just finished re-reading Broken Angels, got to be my all-time favourite sci-fi book series. Not too much good modern cyberpunk floating around.

Hopefully they don't play too much on the Quell/Tak story-line, did not care for that. Will also be interested to see how they work Poe in.

Cool. I liked this one.

Didn’t like the Blade Runner movies, after about 3 episodes got into altered carbon.
Takes a few episodes to work out what’s happening.

Agree

On Amazon Kindle = NZ$9.18ea for the first 3 books

On Apple iBooks = NZ$13.99 for the first 3 books

Apple in their 30% rip off mode.

Speaking of Space Epics, I also love Peter F. Hamilton's books, all of them. I have his last 3, including his latest 'Salvation' of the same trilogy which 2 & 3 is being written, in ePub format (iBooks) and the rest in Trade Back. I wonder who would dear attempt to serialise any of his epic's ??

Since the appearance of Netflicks and Amazon Prime Video, we have seen an expansion in the range of formats which are produced with substantial budgets. Mini-series and full length series productions can now be made with the money to achieve productions standards that used to be the domain of full length feature films.

That would allow the production of video versions of epic takes that would previously have been considered un-filmable.

As an example, the first book in Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy could be dealt with via a feature length movie dealing only with the events on Lalonde followed by another in the same format dealing with the same book from the point of view of Joshua and then finally a full series covering the other parts of the story from that book. Netflicks could fund that and their model by which a subscriber can watch earlier content by way of a refresher when subsequent interleaved stories are released would allow the whole thing to make narrative sense. On completion, they could create further mash up content by extracting threads from the existing work to allow the creation of story lines relating to other characters or plot threads in the book.

After that would be a case of rinse and repeat for the rest of the trilogy and then his other works.
