My current one is showing signs and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good wireless one that also works wired. I normally cut my hair every fortnight using a number 2 guide all round. So dont need any of the fancy attachments.

Remington Barbers Best. It doesn't work corded, but the batter lasts ages - Lithium batteries. Of course wait for a 50% off sale at Briscoes before purchasing.

All the boxes look similar, don't accidentally buy a beard trimmer.

Not cordless but I've had my Wahl for about 18 years, has been used ever 4-6 weeks (oiled every time) and it hasn't missed a strand.

I bought a Vidal Sassoon set a couple of years ago and it’s worked flawlessly. I also use it regularly for beard trimming or shaving, and my beard is like barbed wire!

One of the features I had also looked for was the capability to run on battery or cable, which this one does.

That model’s not readily available, but they sell similar models, eg this one that has a five year warranty:

Based on my experience, I’d buy another from this brand for sure.

I have had the Remington before, but that didn´t last all that many years.

Have invested in the Philips MG 7770 and its miles better than the Remington.

I see Harvey Norman has it for $229 at the moment.

Next sale so this weekend :) But is it me or is the head not as wide as a normal hair clipper?

The one I am replacing is a Wahl. I must admit though that it is not the lithium model one as it runs on 4 AA batteries.

Ah i've seen these on sale at Farmer's before. But it felt a bit heavy? I might give it another look.

Looking at this model, it seems like the Remington Barbers in terms of head width. I am guessing this is due to it being multi-purpose.

I used two of these for a few years. I used it at zero (now a razor all over). Quick and easy as the blade is so wide. Just oil the blades reasonably often.
Remington.

+1 for these. I had an ancient Made in USA Wahl that lasted 20+ years after I got it second hand, when it finally died I replaced it with a new Wahl and it was an absolute piece of garbage. Replaced those several years ago with the Remmington at the suggestion of a friend and have never looked back.

Has anyone used one of this https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/home-appliances/remington/remington-titanium-turbo-pro-hair-clipper-kit/347206/

Given its current price, I think it is a good enough of risk for me to give it a try.

After being a Wahl user for many years, I bought this last year and whilst initially sceptical, I have been very impressed! Like you, I am a "down the to bone" guy and the extra width/shape makes it one of the quickest and most consistent cuts I have had.

Feels a bit plasticky and the battery life is not as good as cordless Wahls I have had, but works very well and its washability is a bonus.

Time will tell if it lasts as well as the German competition!

I am guessing this is primarily for cutting head hair and would not be suitable for facial hair due to the curve?

I put a guard on and use it for trimming my beard as well. The curve takes a little practice and it probably isn’t as good as a specialised beard trimmer but works well enough for me!

Having worked as a Hairdresser and Barber in a former life, I would only ever recommend Wahl.

They're spendier than the others, but have vastly superior motors and blades and spare parts are easily obtainable.

They stay sharp a lot longer and if maintained well, will last you a literal lifetime (Mine still work like new and are of a 1980's vintage). I have the "Supertaper 89" which is basically identical to the current professional unit (although the new one is available cordless now).
