I have a very old print photo - probably around 1970......

I want to get it enlarged.  Is this even possible and can anyone recommend a good place to do this.

You can take it to any photo store and they can simple blow it up. If you want it improved, removing scratches, fixing up color, etc, you may need a retoucher.

I've had quite good results scanning old photos, cleaning them up in Picasa, then printing via online service such as snapfish

You made me feel very old with that comment... "Very old" when it comes to photos makes me think of some I have of great grandparents in the very early 1900s... 😬

OT but our ‘very old’ family photos date back to the 1880’s.

I have scanned all of them in a high res and then cleaned them up (removed blemishes, small tear/rip marks etc) using the Photos editor built into MacOS. It’s really not hard to do and is a lot of fun. They look great but not sure how they would look printed as enlargements.

If you’re not confident giving it a go yourself, google ‘photo restoration’ and give a few places a call. Wouldn’t take long to get a feel for what’s possible. I guess it will depend on how big you want to go.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
