Just curious to know there are highway webcams but are there any pedestrian webcams to see how busy places are?  Am just curious to know yesterday Good Friday how quiet Queen Street was and how about today / later today with things all open?

Cheers.

Only ones I know that are publically available are the NZTA ones - http://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/traffic-and-travel-information/traffic-cameras/

Given the decreased cost of web access and IP cameras over the years, it is a bit strange that there now seem to be fewer publicly accessible pedestrian hotspot cameras than there were a decade ago.

For instance I know that Citylink used to have a Courtenay Place webcam in addition to their traffic ones, but that has been offline for years now (ran from 2008-2013 according to this site).

I could do with access to the web cams at the drive-thru so I can see what the queue is like 😁

Acceptance of the surveillance society? Looking forward to blanket coverage of webcams, facial recognition and AI to predict where you are going and what you are doing, push targeted adverts spammed to all channels, and the police hanging around locations deemed likely to be troublesome.

Could always use Google Maps to help determine if busy or not, clicking on a listed business usually says down the side how busy it currently is (assuming based off how many people have Google Maps installed on their phones)
