According to this item on CNN, two guys decided to do a Blues Brothers and jump their car over an open drawbridge. This happened in Texas, of course. They drove up to the barrier, the passenger got out and lifted the barrier, then got back in and they roared up the raised section at full speed. The car didn't jump, though. Instead it dove, straight into the water below. Both of these good old boys died in the water. Sometimes what seems like a good idea at the moment just isn't!

If it really was a documentary you'd see that a lot of the cars didn't survive the stunts. "Somewhere between 256 and 321 "General Lee" cars were created and mostly destroyed during the series. " No mention how many jeans were torn :)

Standby for the family to sue someone for the loss of their loved ones.
Possible list of respondents
Movie Studios
TV studios
Truck manufacturer (insufficient ‘offroad’ capability)
Bridge builder
Barrier builder
River Authority
Education system

Edit: On rereading I see it was a car, so Chevrolet. Just assumed it would have been a couple of good ol boys in a truck with a shotgun in a rack in the back window.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

That car was indestructible, like KITT....another great documentary from the 80s.  They don't make cars nor documentaries like that anymore.

A rebadged Daewoo with a 1.5 ton kerb weight and a 1.4 litre engine is going to jump like an obese corgi. They may have had better luck with a tandem bicycle or a fire truck.
