I guess as the title says, I have been very very lucky in my life and got to meet a few.

My Wife won a competition to meet and have lunch with Christina Applegate through Whitcoulls of all places back around 2002, An amazing and very smart lady she had a holiday house over in golden bay and was very often in NZ.

In 1995 I had the pleasure to meet Nelson Mandela in Namibia was a very turbulent time back then but this guy just had an aurora about him that I can not even describe to this day, Was very soft spoken when talking to him and I was among 3 people in a closed meeting with him for around 3/4 of an hour. Amazing guy in every sense of the word.

While out drinking in LA was at a private function in a separate section of a restaurant come bar and Courtney Love and her entourage came in and just took over, She was pis*ed as hell and was spitting at everybody, yeah she was a piece of work that's for sure, did not meet her as such but got to hear her swearing at the top of her lungs at everybody.

Finally for me was Robyn Malcolm whom I met just by chance while out in a bar about 6 years ago, She was a beautiful as she was witty, very easy to talk to with an amazing sense of humor.

Bill Gates, during a CES in Las Vegas, while hosted by Microsoft - although I don't expect him to remember me...

Brunzy: Steve Biddle

I too met Steve once in Napier.  My first child was ~1 month old and I'd had about 3 hours of sleep, so it's all a bit hazy.

Still, touched the hand of God that day.

I worked security in a casino overseas in the 90's.

Chatted to Billy Joel while he was waiting offstage when Elton John was onstage performing. What struck me about Billy Joel (besides being around 5 foot something) was how down to earth he was and approachable.

Also chatted to Stevie Wonders missus, outside the green room, when he was onstage performing with his group.

Very nice people compared to Whitney Houston, who I stood 2 feet away from and did not like people looking at her.

Never met any real celebrities, just well-known NZers. As in, walked past them in the hall, stood in the elevator with them, that sorta thing.

While I have not had the privilege of meeting him myself, I have been told Billy is very approachable by someone who had met him, most likely working on the fireworks for the same show you mentioned. I hope to see Billy live again for the third time in the near future. I was thinking of going to see him in New York and Madison Square Garden next year, but recent US policies regarding handing over social media information have put an end to that. Perhaps he could do the MSG at the MCG.

I met Sonny Bill Williams once. Looked kind of familiar, but I didn't know (or care) who he was. I had a young lady with me who was very excited.

I've also met few well-known politicians. They're probably more infamous than celebrities, although one was on Dancing with the Stars.

This was at the Crown Casino in Melbourne not long after it opened (mid 90's) ... they did have a grand opening for Planet Hollywood later with celebs like Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith, Sugar Ray Leonard, Shaquille O'Neal.

Shaquille O'Neal was the only one I managed to see and that was from a distance. The guy was huge and just dwarfed the people around him.
