In an ideal world, many things could be better than they are. This thread invites you to wish for small things that would improve life for everyone. Not the big stuff, like an end to hunger or peace on earth, just those little things that might make a modest improvement to our quality of life.

To start, I wish that our authorities would make as much effort to combat phone scams as they devote to child pornography. The latest are robot calls informing that one's Internet is about to be cancelled unless you press 1. This will probably cause some old people a lot of distress. For the rest of us it is just tiresome. Surely something could be done about this kind of thing, either nationally or internationally, if there was a will to commit sufficient resources to it?

I want *way* more resources spent on preventing Child Porn than phone scams.

A little appreciation?

A kiss from the missus, a hug from a close friend, a "thank you" from a co-worker.

Its amazing how much influence these small things have.

Maybe I should have used a different example but how do you know that the scammers aren't also dabbling in other areas of illegality? The point is that much more could certainly be done, but it isn't so nan and gramps keep getting hit and the rest of us keep getting annoyed.

I was thinking along these lines. Something like a little more courtesy from and by everyone.

Not disputing the risks, simply stating that Child Pornography is a much bigger issue in my mind.

Protecting the elderly is quite a fine line. Lots of elderly want independence and don't appreciate having people meddle in their lives, but the impact and risks are real.

Generally, more tolerance. Perhaps not for the most extreme of views, but a lot of the worlds issues could be resolved by people being more accepting that other peoples Religions, Gods, views etc are valid and don't need changing.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

The developer in me wants to be able to change libraries without breaking all the apps that use them. It would take a genie to accomplish that one :(

That we would stop telling others how to live their lives. Let people find their own happiness and be content in our own.

For police to stop focusing on speed and more on harmful behavior like running red lights and cellphone use.
