Hi all,

Currently looking to replace a broken key ring I have on my set of house keys (not car keys) and that got me thinking whats the coolest gadget you have seen as a key ring, I am well aware of all the tape measures and multi tools but was wondering what else is out there which is potentially just as handy?

I have a multi-use keyring that has keys, USB stick, Bottle Opener, etc on it. It's pretty cool.

It's a Keysmart keyring...it looks like this:

A ‘here I am’ tag so you can find your keys. :-)

Friend of mine had a CPU of some description (Athlon?) that he'd killed while overclocking :P

I have often thought that the number of keys that someone carries around with them is a good window into or metaphor for their life and possibly how complex their life is.

Although I love tech wizardry and gadgets I also like to keep life as simple as possible. A lot of people carry around, say, 10 keys (or way more) - car key, SO’s car key, two or three house door keys, garage, garden shed, boat, trailer padlock, work, etc etc. The last thing I want is all that clunk in my pocket.

For years I have had just two keys on my Elegant Minimalism keyring - a green anodised aluminium light-weight house key and my car key. Our house has six external doors and originally a separate key for each. Got a locksmith to key them all alike - now one light key for the whole house.

Even my folding car key is too bulky for my liking - and I certainly don’t want a heavy key ring ornament dongle in my pocket.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Don't get carried away with heavy multi-tools, etc on your keyring. A bump or pothole could turn your ignition off.

I had a bunch of keys etc until recently - sat down and went "what do I NEED".

I'm now down to two keys.

But still have a USB stick, bus tag, LED torch, door card, RFID tag, and belt clip on my key ring.

I could get rid of the USB and torch, but they do come in handy.

...... or an unintended vasectomy from the Leatherman as you pocket your keys walking away from the car.

I used to have half a stick of ram as a key ring, was very recognisable but also had a habit of wearing out everything else in your pocket including the pocket!

I have two sets.

Car keys with just the car, seatbelt cutter and a gate opener.

House keys with just house keys and a tiny torch to find the lock in winter.
