I got a phone call from ANZ says that my credit card has been charged by Vodafone AU and they don't think it is a legitimate purchase so they called me to confirm the payment. And of course it was not done by me so they cancelled my card and issued me a new card and a charge back from Vodafone AU. The CSR said it might because I use the card on some website and the information was leaked.
After 10 minutes I got a phone call from 0219529636 said my name and address and asking if I want to make money online, I hanged up his phone call and I do feel this phone call is related to my credit card since I never got any this kind of phone call before, and my name/phone/address is always together with the credit card info when doing online purchases.
Lucky I never keep much money on the account that linked to a credit card, there is only $46 on the card so they can only spend $32 with Vodafone AU. ANZ did a very good job to track these fraud transactions, I guess they are monitoring failed transactions on credit cards and if too many attempts failed then the card will be flagged as stolen and will call the customer to confirm?
I checked my credit card statements and recently online transactions from Amazon, Linode, Sitehost, Dreamhost, Google, Humblebundle etc should be pretty safe. I did use the card on some random website from pricespy a while ago, so it might go back for a long time :-(
Anyway, just heads up guys, check your credit card statements since if you have enough funds there might not be enough failed attempts to trigger the warning and do call your bank if you found something unusual.
