Several years ago Countdown used to sell 100g packs of (Indonesian or Malaysian - I can't quite remember which) whitebait, which I found to be almost as good as stuff from the South Island. Another good thing is these packs were only $10, which to me was pretty good value.

I haven't seen this whitebait at the supermarket for some time now, and the cheapest I have found is 100g for $35!

Has anyone found cheaper whitebait anywhere outside the South Island, or am I basically stuck?

People sell it on trademe, looks from around $20/pound (200 odd grams) plus shipping. Just use whitebait as the search

Wow that IS shrinkflation!

A pound used to be 454 grams (Or so I was taught)

That price is actually = $100 / kg, or really $45 odd per pound?

Great, thanks for the tip. Frozen is fine. Any idea on pricing?

I cant recall, but just ring beforehand if you are travelling a long way.

It was pricey though.....I remember thinking that and just bought 200 grams as a one-off.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Cheers for the tip, although I'm only looking for about 100g (I'm the only one in the whole house who eats it). But maybe I'll buy 250g and freeze the rest...
