I just saw this item on 'juice jacking', the placement of phony charging stations in public places to steal data from devices. So why not make USB pass-through plugs that connect the power pins but cut the data ones? There are already cables that do this. Could be a money-maker. Feel free to steal my idea but give me credit if you do.

Android has a switch for that. I like the idea tho because too many switches.

Can't speak for Android, but iOS has had protection against this for years. It specifically tells you and asks for permission to connect when you plug into any unrecognised device other than a charger. It was implemented several years ago when this became prevalent.

Most android phones with mini USB have other uses for the socket beyond connection to a computer, depending on what you do on the ID pin you can activate OTG mode, so the phone will mount the "charger" as a USB drive or whatever, or some will let the pins become a serial uart to the CPU and other things.

IOS it can become a wired headset and feed commands to siri if allowed etc.
