Hi All,

I'm just about to embark on buying / building my first home and I dont have a solicitor to check the paperwork etc throughout the process. Does anyone have any recommendations of anyone in the Christchurch area? (Im based in Leeston, building in Rolleston, working in Burnside if it helps :o)

Thanks

I've used Meares Williams (who have offices in Selwyn if you find that helpful) and SRB, and both were good to deal with.

In fairness a standard property purchase should be bread and butter for most law firms.

Good luck with the first home! I built my first home in Selwyn (well, paid someone to build it for me) so happy to bore you with things I learnt if you go down that route.

I recently used Stephen Kannangara from Kannangara and Thomson to purchase my first home - really onto it and efficient. My parents have used him for their purchases too.

His office is located in Wairakei Road, so close to your work

Nick Leeming at Addington Law on Lincoln Rd is worth consideration.  He's been our solicitor for years, and has handled several house purchases and other stuff without fault or hassle.

My family have had a nightmare experience with Kannangara and Thomson. Just for a bit of balance.
