This pole was recently replaced and this thing arrived with it. There’s a similar thing on another new pole around 500m away. This one is on Bruce McLaren Rd, Henderson in Auckland.

A directional antenna of some kind I reckon. For a link to power company regarding the transformer etc on the pole? Or a device that monitors traffic/noise etc? 5G?

Possibly a monitoring or control link for the 11kv disconnect at the top of the pole

Hi, that looks like a 11kV switch point at the very top, that box you point out will be the switch control and remote network facility (see 4G antennas)

Whatever it is its pretty directional, so its not 5G or any other public network,

 

As others have opined its likely used for remote control/monitoring
