My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

And to think the alternate being clung to was gas lights,

Which are proven to emit CO as well as whole bunch of other nasties

Edison did mount a pretty screwed up campaign against AC current though!

This film is all about it https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2140507/

If Covid-19 had been about back then Edison would have probably blamed that on AC current!

The Catweazle ref probably lost on many under a 'certain' age.

Loved that show when I was younger.

Actually found some eps online recently - Still made me smile.

The use of Electricity for lighting is in no way harmful to health, nor does it affect the soundness of sleep.

Kerosene lamps and gas lighting were dimmable. Candles you could add more or less. Different colour temperature and radiance characteristics. I expect the last part was accurate in some sense.

Another modern day correlate is the relatively concentrated brightness in small package and colour temps of l.e.d lighting compared to incandescent, and blue light spectrum emitted from phones and tablets. Again, I expect this last part was accurate in some sense.

I'm not sure - I saw ad advert somewhere earlier this year - imdb says it was released here in late February - so got clobbered with lockdown.

The film was actually released overseas initially in 2017 - but there was a lot of dissatisfaction with it and they reedited the film - so the 2020 version is called the directors cut.

I 'found it' *somewhere* during lockdown - But I think its back on at cinemas at the moment.

Hmm - Yep - Screening at the movies right now around the country: https://www.flicks.co.nz/movie/the-current-war/
