Some time ago, our ageing cat was found to have thyroid issues, and needs daily pills to keep him well. The vet supplied them to us fo what we thought was a reasonable cost. ($32 for 30 pills)

Then our vet closed down and transferred everything to another vet in town.
When went for another bottle of pills, the price at the new vet was more than double! ($78 for 30 pills)
We had no choice but to pay, we were out of pills.

I decided to do some research, and I found Willowbark an online pet pharmacy.
I am now buying the same medication from them for $36 delivered.
I thoroughly recommend them, their service has been fantastic.

The medication we need requires a prescription. The vet charges us $15 for a 6 repeat prescription.

If you have a pet that requires medication, I strongly recommend you check the price you are paying is reasonable.

Yes, unfortunately Vets are businesses and many will put their profit margins well above the life of your animal.

Appreciate not all vets, but it pays to ring around. It can literally save you thousands to have a vet that does care vs one that sees your pet as a piggy bank waiting to be cracked open.

God even typing that sound awful.

I just checked the price of the tablets we have to give our dog daily as he has skin allergies.
Cheaper to keep getting them from our local vet.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Great news, I'm glad that you're getting a reasonable price from your vet.
Like I said, we were too originally.
I'd be curious to know a ballpark price difference.

I posted this mostly to highlight that there are options, and you don't have to buy the medication direct from the vet.
I didn't know, and I'd never heard of vetenary pharmacies. It was a big leap of faith trying it out.
