I eat a sausage and Egg for breakfast, I got so fat eating grains eeeek. Im not anti carbs, just prefer lower amounts and higher micro nutrient value carbs ie fruit n veg.

So most super market sausages are low in meat and high in fillers.

Where can I get really high percentage of meat sausages from? Either at supermarket or north auck (albany and up, or browns bay)

When I use to hunt I would make my own, but that was long ago and prefer the convenience of buying now.

Talk to your local butcher, that's what we do.

We make a special trip once and a while to Pine Hill Butchery http://www.pinehillbutchery.co.nz/

Best sausages we have found, most of them a good, not cheap but well worth the price IMHO. ( Make really great pork chipolatas, ideal for breakfast )

In the supermarket ( New World Mt Roskill ) we only buy one brand, I cant remember the name but has a union jack ( genuine British or something like that, made in Panmure )

I get sausages custom made by a local butcher due to dietary issues and general fussiness/snobbishness.

I buy them 10kg at a time and they don't charge me much more than their standard bangers cost.

I'm in Blenheim, so can't help with a recommendation in OPs area.

Can vouch for PHB. We live nearby and don’t buy all our meat there but have had their sausages often - very good. Every time I go in there I think “great butchery, should shop here more frequently”.

Ive not tried pinehill but since some have recommended i will take a look.

I frequent seaview meats in milford. Decent butcher and they do a large variety of snags, worth checking out.

Is that some sort of foreign food?

This butchery is also very good. There’s been a butchery in that space since I was a kid growing up in the area in the late 1950’s. First a butcher called Mr Lillas, then a Mr Mahoney whose son is an old mate of mine and who did a butchery apprenticeship with his dad there in the late 1960’s. My Mum bought all our meat there in those pre-supermarket days.

Not if you live in Browns Bay :-). They advertise it on their web page, if they can make it properly then they're probably OK.

Drool. Maybe we could set up a swap, PHB meat from Orkland for L'A meat from Wellington.

Yeah I was just joking. They sell quite a bit of SA stuff there - catering for the local clientele.

Wow so many other banger lovers ;-p

I do love a good Boerewors.

At the moment just eating "Beard Brothers" Old School Pork sausages, the best that Paknsave have imo.

Sometimes we go to the Blackforest Gourmet Butchery (German, my other half is so she gets her fix on some of their other stuff like fleisch salad (not the best but good enough), lieberwurst (kind of like liver pate but better, its pretty good there) and their various types of wurst are good but not cheap.

I will have to try these other ones recommended on the shore, thank you.

I found they over-salt most things, a lot of their stuff would be good if it was just less salty.
