Hello folks... I got a request from Mobile0800, a new service that is starting here in New Zealand to bring some different "mates rates" service to mobile calls.

Basically they will give a $10 credit to 10 volunteers - you just need to go to Mobile0800 to create your account, then send me a PM with your phne number and e-mail address. Next Monday (or before if I get ten people quickly) I will forward this to Mobile0800 and get your account loaded.

Mauricio

Don't worry about getting the respondents to set up their accounts on the site. If they just send you their phone numbers and email addresses, we can set them up, give them their PIN numbers and then they're off.

Cheers

Chris at mobile0800

To everyone who submitted their names, thanks... I hear Mobile800 is contacting each of you with an account and credits. It would be great if you could then provide them with your feedback - usability, quality, etc.

Thanks for this freitasm and greenie!

It's working really well so far, once I have used up the credit I'll definitely want to use this regularly.

Anthony - any clues on getting our message out there. So far we've had pretty poor response from radio advertising and not a great take up rate from those who have gone to our site. Any thoughts/ideas on how we can improve our site so that people "get it" and see the value rather than the hassle of using an 0800 number would be much appreciated.

So I have been testing it out lately and I really like it. Set up was a breeze, you just had to call the number enter your pin and you were right away. I set up autopin so that all I would have to do is call the number.

I put Mobile0800 on speed dial as well. It's really easy, all I have to do is press 5 on my phone, wait a few seconds, enter my desired number and then I am away.

I'm not to sure whether you have this feature or not but an inbuilt phonebook would be really nice. Instead of having to remember all the numbers I want to call, I can instead just find it by calling Mobile0800.

I can also see the hassle in calling an 0800 number first but for the price we are getting it is definitely worth it!

I have found it a good service,
However I feel it needs a web interface to change preferences and show current credit.
As anthonybs says speed dials would be good.

What about texting the number to mobile0800 and getting a callback that connects you to the number.
Also auto topup would be a nice feature so that you don’t have to worry about running out of credit.
Lastly showing your caller id to the third party would be much better.

It's a neat service, a couple of minor annoyances but this could be a perfect alternative mobile calling card for dairies to sell when someone asks for a top-up. Reliability and call quality is top- class being carried obviously over a Telecom service.

User interface is a little too simple and CallerID is really something that needs to be intorduced.. Still it's a great product and very cheap.
