Hey

Found this in my bath tonight, it's huge, a bit bigger than a 50c piece of old...  The pic is a bit blurry but it's basically brown/red on the body with two white rings around the front legs and some pretty massive silk spinners on the rear end.

I quickly searched Te Papa and found a similar description for a Tunnel web spider, although it doesn't mention the white rings.

Any takers?

Its harmless, just a wood spider I think.

I know an entemologist and will pass the photo on to him and get back to you.

The nature science guy in my team reckons Tunnel Web.  Although he is a herpetologist (yes, we laugh) and not an arachnologist, he's pretty sure.
