I am considering buying a mobile phone form Dick Smith, but am worried about how easy it will be to return a faulty product.

In my experience mobile phones often develop faults in the first 2 years (2 out of 2 of the last 2 phones I purchased needed a warrenty repair - an LG and an Pixel 3A).

Anyone had experiences with Dick smith returns for faults (good or bad).

I'll pay extra to avoid hassles at return.

Thanks

I recently bought one of those car battery jump starter which is DOA when I received it.

I contacted support and explained how I tested the unit and included a photo to confirm that it's dead.

I got a reply in a couple of days saying they accept my evidence and will send a replacement unit without the need to send back the faulty unit.

I received a new working replacement after two weeks.

This is going back 2 years, I bought a ceramic heater and it made a hell of a noise - faulty fan catching on something. I sent a link to an audio file and they said it was fine. I then contacted the manufacturer and they came back to me saying it shouldn't sound like that. Forwarded that to Dick and they promptly sent a replacement.

One problem I have found with DSE, is after you buy from them, you then get lots of marketing emails. Even after unsubscribing, and getting confirmation that I have been unsubscribed, days later they continue to come through. Seems to be  PITA to get off their mailing list.

The other annoying thing is that they include coupons from their advertisers  in the parcel, but these coupons are invalid because they only apply to Australia.

I ended up getting mighty ape to price match.
So best of both worlds.
A pixel 4a at cheap prices and a local supplier.

And yes I know they are both owned by Kogan. But to date mighty ape have been great in my experience. Should take a while for any culture change that *may* happen to kick in.

At least I get the nz cga now.

I wonder if Mighty Ape would import a Dick Smith product into NZ for sale locally, since they're both owned by the same company (Kogan)?
