The Dark Web used to be something hidden, accessible only to technical types in the know with a Tor browser. Now it is on TV, in mainstream media, part of everyday conversation. Since every rube now knows about it, and how to access it, I would imagine those who care about this sort of thing must have found a new hide-out. Hence my question: What is the new Dark Web? Where do those go who don't want to be seen or heard? What unknown layer of communications is now handling the secret traffic? Not that I dabble in that sort of thing. I'm just curious.

I am sure the OP is a Virgo. The plot thickens! I am beginning to believe the entire thread is has links to a long standing conspiracy.

Windows11 will give you easy access to it .
You just need to plug the network cable in upside down , thats detected as the new 'secret handshake'

To be honest, if you leave RDP exposed to the Internet, don't patch your computer, or re-use passwords and click on links in emails, the dark web will find YOU very quickly.

The "darker" web?

I don't know a single person who knows how to access the dark web, a bit of confirmation bias there perhaps?

I thought we had to plug network cables in upside down in NZ anyway, cause we are in the southern hemisphere'n all that.

The dark web was never reliant on remaining a secret. Rather, the theory is that it’s design allows anyone using it to remain anonymous by keeping any trace back to the real world, such as user IP addresses, obscured. This is why your local drug dealer can still use it.

Now there has been some work to allow authorities to get around that, but I’m not sure to what level that has been achieved.

Isn't the "Darker Web" run by the FBI now days? (as are most Tor exit nodes?)

I thought that Anom sting was pure gold. Breaking new frontiers that the Civil Libertarians/pro-crime types hadn't considered.

I wouldn't know a Tor Exit Node if it grew on the end of my p3nis.
