Has anyone been through one of their degree pathways based on work experience? Are any of them worthwhile? Meaning if an employee goes through the process, the degree is legit etc and with a possibility to postgrad?

Are there any similar alternatives from any institutes in NZ or possibly Aus?

Not sure, we havnt needed to send anyone on one before.

BUt this isnt for us, the person just wants to know if there is  bad reputation or if it is just another degree, which imo is better than no degree.

Sure.  You can do this (BAM etc) through Polytechs.

The people you should be talking to now are the program managers at the institutions. It's their job to give advice.

I'll say that if you don't have relevant work experience to RPL enough credits and are probably young, then doing an equivalent degree the normal way may be easier.

Thanks for the reply. No the person is more a senior project/programme manager. I think any degree shows application and ability to see something through despite being pretty generalised to SDLC.

Yes they suggested B AM in  Business Information Systems due to their vast project career in SDLC.

Im just curious if they pass, can they do post grad diplomas or maybe even an MBA?

I hire people at this level. I may be unique (but I doubt it) - I don’t care if people at this level have a degree or not; I rely on track record and first and second impressions, and a trusted reference.

I actively don’t recruit those with MBA’s.

Yes.  They can do post-graduate study including MBA if that's what they want. I'm going to guess they probably won't, the process is quite demanding at the end stages.  You'd probably need time off work for a month or two or something will break - probably in your head.

Anyway, the person you're dealing with needs to talk to the program managers/leaders at the polytech.  They should be able to give the ins and outs and a far better description of the process than I can, as well as a possible indication of which papers are likely to be able to be RPL'd, thus how quickly the degree may be able to be completed.

I think Open Polytech offer the degrees.  I'm not sure how well that works in "remote learning".  Being able to knock on a lecturer's door or meet with other students may have advantages.
