There's a funeral in Auckland today for a head hunter gang member who died recently.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/300336174/auckland-head-hunter-funeral-police-block-great-north-rd-as-gang-members-descend-in-huge-numbers

What i find curious is that there are members from other gangs turning up as well.  In my white middle class bubble i'd assumed gangs were more or less rivals, it surprised me that they support each other.   I saw a similar thing when a young gang member who lived around me (beachhaven auckland) died and they had a big procession and funeral, members from all different gangs turned up.

Are gangs buddies nowadays?  Or could it be more a marketing style thing where any gang member death is glamourised and the person made out to be a hero.

I would say the Police will (or should) be watching this event like a hawk.

We had a funeral in the past few months in Wainuiomata that was attended by a lot of Gang members, it was the first time I actually felt really nervous as they parking on every bit of green space they could see (even the roundabout) and were blocking traffic at one point

At the gang funeral and procession near me recently there was a large number of police.  They didn't actively control the crowd in any way, but I read in the papers later that they sent out hundreds of tickets for infringements after the fact.  Didn't indicate, lost traction, drove on the wrong side of the road etc lol    Made my day

One of the most eye opening things for me who has no experience of the gang world whatsoever was how many of the gang members and/or their wives drove MASSIVELY expensive cars.  Properly properly expensive.  It clearly pays well.

Commerce Commission should go along.

Selling P is illegal, but that doesn't exempt them from laws about collusion, price fixing, anti-competitive behaviour.
