Can anyone recommend an insurance broker in Wellington (if this is allowed) or an insurance company that is not State Insurance where I can get local service easily by phone and who provide decent service. Someone suggested Vero who I haven’t heard of.

I am sick and tired of writing dozens of emails or waiting for someone to answer the phones and being shunted from one person to another when I’m trying to update insurance, ie give them more money. Then while I am still trying to sort out the issues they send me a 'How did we do survey' that requires 50 questions and wasting more time writing about why I am upset with them and my feelings on scale of 0-10 in Survey Monkey.

MAS (formerly Medical Assurance Society) is excellent. Locally based and fantastic to deal with. You need to join as a member; this used to be limited to doctors but they've now expanded to most other professions.

Save your money regarding a broker. I have zero issues with AMI.

They don’t really need to be in Wellington.

I use Rothbury. In Dunedin. Very very good.

The irritating part is over many years we made hardly any claims as we leave the excess high.

I wonder if insurance companies deal with all the details of changeover the same as banks do when you change banks.

Looks good and I like what I see, but I note their S & P rating is only A- not sure if this could be a problem say if a big quake hits and a lot of people need a pay out.
