Purchased new Samsung monitor from Playtech at the start of the year. Monitor now has fault, so I contacted Playtech.

They told me to contact Samsung. I went back to Playtech and said "no, you're the retailer" - they came back telling me to go to Samsung "as this is the process we do".

Samsung want $50 for an inspection fee. (If manufacture fault, then no fee)

I've been dealing with Playtech for probably 10+ years personally and for employers and never had this issue with them.

If this is their attitude now, don't think I'll be using them anymore.

Wow that's wildly different to what I have experienced with Playtech.

Yeah no they're the retailer they sold you the monitor, it's their problem.

Yeah nah, Playtech can't do that. Bear in mind they may still want an inspection fee, which is fair.

I just find their attitude to it, is ****.

I'm just going to take it to Samsung and then raise it with the Playtech manager - if nothing from there, I'll raise elsewhere.

LOL, Don't think Paul (PT Director) wears white that often :)

I've gone back to PT and said stuff it then, I'll deal with Samsung direct.

Honestly, it sounds like you must have spoken with their new team; the Customer service Global helpdesk & remote action support hub.

I haven't used Playtech for many years because Paul shafted some people I know and I refuse to support people without ethics, but before I stopped purchasing from them I'd also had issues with their willingness to RMA things. That being said I've also had issues with PB Tech RMA and anecdotally heard of even the mighty Computer Lounge being douchebags about RMA's at times.

They finally said they'll accept it and deal with it, but because their store and the Samsung center are both in Albany they find it easier to just direct the customer to Samsung direct.

If they had explained their full thinking behind directing me to Samsung initially, I probably would have been "no prob I'll do that" - but they didn't.

Generally I have good experience with them....  only had one other issue I can recall, bought PC for a friend, bought video card for myself. On same order. Put note saying "DONT install video card, NOT for this PC". They installed it.

Card ended up not working with my system, so returned it - they wanted to charge me 20% restocking because I didn't have the box. I explained the situation. "OK, 10%

I took it home and contacted Paul, who said to take it in again and ask for him - sorted it in 2mins, full refund.

What's this 'less than a year' stipulation?

First year of any warranty should be with the original retailer.

In many cases years 2+ are direct with manufacturer or via a 3rd party

Read the small print on your warranty.

The warranty is irrelevant.

The CGA says you can take it to the retailer, regardless.
