A fair while ago ebay (circa 2013) changed their USA Ebay motors listings to be blocked for everyone outside the USA

A family friend likes to Browse these listings, A while ago I set him up with Hola extension in Chrome to make it seem like he was in the US and it worked fine, this stopped working when he got a new computer a couple of years back, He wants me to set it up for him again however before going to his house I tested on my computer and can't get the listings to show using Hola now - I am assuming eBay have blocked the IP Addresses that Hola uses or similar.

Trying to access the page normally, I just get an error

This page isn’t working www.ebay.com redirected you too many times.

There also used to be another workaround where you could search for a car and then in the search results at the top of the listings set shipping Postcode to USA and then it would show the category and then you could browse the listings.

Also setting primary address in eBay account to USA would also work.

None of these seem to work anymore

Does anyone have any suggestion of how to access eBay Motors from New Zealand? Ideally a free solution but perhaps a proper VPN is the only realistic solution? in which case can anyone recommend an easy to use and hassle free reliable one that could be set up for a non techie person to use?

I don't have any problems accessing Ebay Motors to look at Parts and Accessories etc.

I get a redirect error when I try both of those pages (Spark fibre).

If you want a free VPN, I can suggest Hotspot Shield. I've used it before and found it works quite well for a free solution (I ordered something off the HBO website that was otherwise blocked to me).

Ah yes sorry I should have been more specific. The parts and accessories category is accessible without issue. It’s the Cars category that is blocked.

Cheers

Try to open ebay in an incognito mode after switching region in "Hola" extention (whatever it is called). This should solve your issue with redirects. Basically Ebay sets some cookies that cause this redirects behaviour.

Both links just work for me in chrome. I am logged in and have my shipito address as the default on the account, and have had the account since the 90s so perhaps they think I am in the US?

Thanks all for the responses, The Opera web browser proved to be the easiest way for him to get to the familiar eBay motors interface. Could even set it to connect to the VPN automatically on startup.

Also a good tip was clearing the cookies, as I initially tried to access using the VPN before changing it from 'optimal' location to 'Americas' and then it would not work after that, so cleared the cookies and we were away.
