I don't have any kids, but I've noticed the frustration of work-at-home parents who have them.

For instance we have a daily stand-up meeting that lasts only 15 minutes at noon.

Even though some have dedicated home offices, with closing doors, evitability kids will walk in.

Yesterday a cute little girl walked in with a sign saying "Daddy I'm hungry" somehow thinking that was less intrusive.

The father said "well at least she's practicing her writing"

In a very strange coincidence, these videos were recommended by Yotube this morning. Maybe kids aren't so bad.

Mine are just about bouncing off the walls with boredom. Today's weather doesn't help much either - we can't do too much outside (locally) :/

Entertaining your kids is parenting 101. Diversions and distractions. It’d be very hard id imagine however if both parents were working from home but in such cases someone needs to take time off.

Go into a room. Shut the door. Tell queendragonfly “Keep kids out of here”.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Unless Queendragonfly is also trying to work full time from home.

Having young kids through lockdown f sucks

Agreed, we're both working from home and trying to wrangle the kids. When it works though (and they're both busy/distracted), it works really well.

During a few million years of human evolution, there was no escape.  What changed - and was it really for "the better"?

There was no need for escape - kids would entertain themselves by going outside and turning everything from rocks and sticks into games.  They had an extended family of not just their siblings but a whole army of cousins and neighourhood kids to run amok with.

Our houses and streets are designed for fenced in privacy. Overseas you come home from work, potter around the front of your house where eventually neighbours will join you.  Food is shared.  Every night is an impromptu gathering.

Bring back patios.

They can't play with their friends, their routines are broken, they can feel the tension in the air, different age levels have different requirements, the parents are trying to work from home while maintaining their kids schooling, no access to grandparents/baby sitters/etc.  Discipline has changed.

It sucks and I know I have it easy, plenty of toys, devices, food, big backyard, home office, no developmental issues and partner is working from home as am I rather than having to go into work.  I couldn't imagine being stuck with the kids at home and trying to work, or if we were struggling for food/in an apartment/etc.

Not sure what this is what you meant but ...
