Sad to wake up to the news this morning.

The beat of the Stones for nearly 60 years.

I've seen them in concert 5 times over the years, and while they may just be churning out to the formula now, they wrote the formula in the first place.

The Wembley Whammer, you will be missed.

RIP.

Shocked to hear he was only 80. Could have sworn he was far older than the others in the band, who are all in their early 100's.

Charlie Watts once punched Mick Jagger at a hotel at 5  in the morning after Mick rang Watts hotel room drunkenly  saying "where's my drummer?" and the  next thing Mick knows  Watts turned up at Jagger's room   perfectly dressed and when the door was opened Watts punched him and said "never call me your drummer again"

I didn't know anything about him so I was puzzled to read this line in his obit by the BBC:

A jazz aficionado, Watts vied with Bill Wyman for the title of least charismatic member of the band.

Meanwhile, I read that there's a replacement drummer already : https://nypost.com/2021/08/24/meet-the-drummer-who-may-replace-rolling-stones-charlie-watts/

Bye Charlie, but as they say, a rolling stone........
